Fun Friday Post: Running (Or, Doing Things We Don’t Want to Do in the Name of Financial Health)
This week’s Fun Friday topic here on the B5 Business Channel is this:
“Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day. It asks you, ‘Are you going to be a wimp or are you going to be strong today?’” - Peter Maher
Okay…I hate running. So I’m probably a wimp. But I do know a little bit about making myself do things I dislike. Exercise is good for me, and even though I don’t enjoy it, I do it. (But I do something other than running.)
Being in good financial shape can sometimes feel like doing exercises I don’t want to do. It’d be easy just to put something on the credit cards. It’d be nice to just go crazy and spend my way into oblivion rather than first “paying myself” through retirement and savings contributions.
But, just as I’ll feel better and be healthier in the long run if I suck it up and exercise, if I practice good financial principles I’ll have money down the road. Which is good, since I’ll need it to enjoy my good health.

I can only watch in awe as people with that kind of self discipline move through life:)
