How Much Would it Cost to Give the 12 Days of Christmas?
Over at Taxgirl, Kelly has posted a poll about the 12 Days of Christmas. Which gift would you want? But for me, the real question is this: How
much would it cost to give the 12 Days of Christmas? Lucky for me, someone else has already figured this out.
Every year, PNC calculates Christmas Price Index, describing how much all the items on the list would cost. This year, the total cost of all the items (to buy them once) would be $19,507.19.
As you might guess, thanks to inflation, the 12 Days of Christmas costs more this year than it did last year — about 3.1 percent more. This is a fun index because it truly does reflect the rising costs of goods, even if the gifts themselves seem a little outdated.

I also itemized the gifts here: http://www.taxgirl.com/gifts-this-season/
I’ll be doing a follow-up on the tax consequences of gifts, too. Ooh, the drama…
